Reuse DC Share Fair

Looking for a sustainable way to declutter? Clear out your closets and give your items away to someone new at Reuse DC's Share Fair at Eastern Market!

Reuse DC is bringing the thrift store to you. Have clothes, toys, or games you want to donate to your community? Don't have space to host your own yard sale? Give your once-loved items a second life by participating in our free Share Fair! There are several ways to participate:

Givers: Register for a table in the North Hall to display items being given away freely. Be as creative and elaborate as you like! Bring your own racks, shelves, and display items. Registration is required for each Giver group/family and guarantees one table in the space. Please register only one adult PER group/family. We encourage those interested in bringing items to join together to make the most of the space. Givers can also browse the other offerings throughout the event. Items brought to the Share Fair should be clean, in usable condition, and have all parts. Anything unclaimed at the end of the event will go back with each registrant. See below for a list of acceptable items.

Services: Interested in giving away a free service? We are looking for local artisans and tradespeople to help those in need in the community get items repaired, gain advice, or learn a new skill. If you or your organization are interested in securing a table, please register.

Shoppers: For those interested in “shopping” but not bringing their own goods.

THIS IS AN ENTIRELY FREE EVENT, MEANING ITEMS SHOULD BE FREELY GIVEN AWAY. NO SALES, BARTERING, OR EXCHANGES OF ITEMS ARE PERMITTED.

List of Acceptable Items:

• Clothing and outerwear.
• Children and infant clothing.
• Shoes
• Accessories and jewelry.
• Throw blankets and decorative pillows.
• Curtains and draperies.
• Area and throw rugs.
• Cookware, dishes, glassware, and silverware.
• Storage containers.
• Decorative items.
• Office and school supplies.
• Portable electronic devices.
• Small appliances.
• Lamps and fans.
• Reading materials (e.g. books, magazines, etc.).
• Small furniture pieces (e.g. chairs, end tables, nightstands, and ottomans).
• Vinyl records, cassette tapes, and CDs.
• DVDs, VHS movies, videogames.
• Desktop PCs, laptops, keyboards, speakers, etc.
• Gaming systems (Playstation, Xbox, Wii, Nintendo, Sega, etc.).
• Exercise or sporting equipment.
• Children’s toys.
• Games and puzzles.

List of Unacceptable Items:

• Furniture or oversized items over 50 lbs. Must be able to be carried easily and through doorways.
• Items covered in animal hair, broken, worn, torn, stained, mildewed, rusty, missing parts, or disassembled.
• Mattresses or box-springs, bed rails, sleeper-sofas, mattress toppers, bed pillows and bean bag chairs.
• Large appliances: stoves, air conditioners, washing or drying machines, dishwashers, refrigerators, freezers, trash compactors and hot water heaters.
• Building materials, lighting fixtures and plumbing fixtures: windows, doors, garage doors, shutters, sinks, tubs, toilets, fixtures, fencing, gutters, lumber, concrete, bricks, stone, and window blinds.
• Unbound carpeting and area rugs that are covered in animal hair, torn, stained, mildewed, or soiled.
• Hazardous materials and paints.
• Rags – clean or dirty.
• Gas-powered tools and appliances.
• Medical supplies, crutches, and portable toilets.
• Used cosmetics and hair care products.
• Food and beverages.
• Firearms, firework, weapons, or any dangerous items.
• Auto parts: tires, wheels, batteries, chemicals, oil, wiper fluid.
