Returning - Concert #1

This program functions as our return to in-person group singing, beginning with the choir’s performance of Stölzel’s musical meditation on the Sanskrit “universal breath mantra,” then unfolding with repertoire addressing the issues we’ve all struggled with over the past year—isolation, loneliness, loss of loved ones—including a commissioned work by local composer Matt Recio, exploring the phenomenon of touch starvation and its effects on our bodies and minds. The second half of the program is about moving forward, re-establishing human connection, and grappling with the crisis of meaning that has tortured people increasingly since the pandemic began, closing with the world premiere of Oh Me! Oh Life! by Alex Berko.
