Unfortunately, due to internal tribal council conflict along with the alleged hostile takeover of the nonprofit organization, which is the financial arm of our community, we are forced to cancel this year’s event.
I personally understand how deeply this affects so many wonderful people in our community. However, I have been forced to step back from council and step down as a representative of the LNPA. I cannot condone the behavior of certain appointed leaders within this organization. There has been no election of leadership since 2005, despite numerous requests from elders. There is also conflict of interest due to tribal leaders being nonprofit officers.
To the dancers, drummers, and vendors, I sincerely apologize for this inconvenience.
For information on how this development affects our tribal membership’s scholarship fund, please contact the nation’s website email directly.
For enrolled tribal members, I strongly encourage you to voice your concerns and opinions to the current tribal council leaders,
whomever they may be.
If we don’t stand up for our beliefs, we fall together.
To date, no leadership elections have been scheduled, in spite of requests from the elders.
