In-person Event
Mission Gráfica welcomes you after many months of closure.
For 40 years, Mission Gráfica Printmaking Studio has proven itself to be a creative haven for individuals to explore the practices of printmaking in a community-based and affordable studio space that stands out as one of the last grassroots art spaces in San Francisco.
The event will consist of a gallery exhibit of our collection
Some of the prints will be on sale where 50% of the proceeds will go into funding Mission Gráfica‘s MAS Youth program ( an initiative to fund free classes and art job training for young adults between 14-20).
Excited to have you back!
Invited artist: Victo Mazvedzenge. ( Spoken word )
Artist’s statement – “I am foremost a painter, and consider drawing and painting to be a foundation of visual art. I also work in mixed media, performance, and new media. I come from Zimbabwe, a socially and politically charged country. My work engages the philosophical idea of the “human condition”, with respect to individuals and as part of a larger whole, for example, a community or country. In particular, my work explores how the human condition is influenced by censorship and oppression in its various forms. Personally affected by the political, economic, and social mismanagement of my home country, I have worked by necessity in an abstract style that is intentionally ambiguous yet deeply expressive. I have also explored performance in theater, spoken word, and standup comedy.
My spoken word performances are usually impromptu and therefore lend themselves to being deeply in the moment”
