A seminar for anyone curious about social media platform alternatives, digital activism and the future of online engagement for cultural and creative work.
How did a couple of social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram and TikTok) become the sole platforms for reaching audiences? And what happens now, as political shifts and tech skepticism reshape the digital landscape and creators, organisers and cultural spaces start looking for alternatives?
This seminar is an invitation to rethink digital strategies away from opaque algorithms. With insights from voices across cultural and digital fields, it explores how to move beyond Meta’s and ByteDance’ platforms – and what new tools, tactics and communities might emerge in the process. Three speakers will talk about how creators, producers and organisers can begin to shift away from dominant platforms without losing connection and describe strategies and networks that are already in motion.
It’s a space for learning, inspiration and practical direct action – for anyone who is ready to rethink how we show up and engage online.
This seminar is presented by Media Evolution in collaboration with Inkonst. Media Evolution is a community-owned, non-profit platform for co-creation, knowledge sharing, and futures-thinking. They are situated in Malmö, Sweden, where they run a place for work and meetings. <
