Ever since 1896, women have brought to cinema an abundance of creations, works that are both admirable and deeply rooted in their particular experiences of the world. The discovery of this surprising, inspiring, and significant archipelago of women’s culture has been the raison d’être of the Mostra Internacional de Films de Dones de Barcelona (MIFDB) throughout the thirty years of its existence. In this panel, we'll learn about the festival's work and some of its most interesting projects. Led by Alba Villarmea, one of its programmers, and Sarah Lauzemis, in charge of the Production of the MIFDB.
The event is part of a SSHRC-funded partnership project directed by Rosanna Maule, professor at the Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema, in collaboration with the MIFDB.
