Retablo Workshop

(2 hr): 12 - 2pm

Inspired by the santero traditions of New Mexico, honor a saint, ancestor, protector, or personal symbol of devotion.

Each retablo begins with gesso grounds, earth pigments, and the scent of warmed piñon resin.

Working in the quiet language of colonial New Mexican religious art, create intimate pieces shaped by color, reverence, and place, paint a small devotional panel on traditional piñon wood.

A study in ritual, memory, and handmade tradition.

During the session, you can expect:

• 1 drink included with ticket
• Pine slab measuring 7W” × 9H”
• Guidance and instruction on individual ideas
• Stencils for the more than 20 saints
• Stencils for decorative elements and motifs
• Acrylic paints, markers, and pens
