Restorative Experience Part II: Application
About this Event
Relationships are central to learning, effective teaching, and strong child- and youth-development. Restorative approaches center relationships and provide tools for creating and strengthening them even in the most unlikely situation of school discipline.
This professional development session explores the reasons restorative approaches are so successful in helping children adjust negative behaviors and develop healthy relationships. Across the US and the world, restorative discipline is keeping kids in school and protecting their ability to learn and grow into successful adults. It is breaking the cycle known as The School-to-Pr*son Pipeline, improving graduation rates, and reducing school drop-out rates by building meaningful connections--student-to-student and adult-to-student.
Attend this session as a stand-alone or combine it with The Restorative Experience to better understand why restorative discipline works. Then put your restorative practices knowledge into action with tools and skills to integrate restorative approaches into your learning community.
