Join us on this day of restoration and ancestral reverance in Geer Cemetery, a historical Black Durham Cemetery.
About this Event

Join us for a day of restoration, honor, and reverence in the historical Black cemetery, Geer Street Cemetery. We will gather to pay tribute to those who have passed on and ensure that their final resting places are preserved and honored for future generations.

Throughout the day, there will be opportunities to learn about the history of the cemetery, Friends of Geer Cemetery, the stories of individuals buried there, ways to properly recover tombstones with Ron Bartholomew, and ways to engage in ancestral reverence through libations and offerings with Erica Beauvoir & James Stewart.

This event is open to all who want to pay their respects and help preserve this important piece of Durham's history. Please wear comfortable bright-colored clothing. An optional offering list will be posted to attendees soon.

We look forward to coming together to honor our ancestors and ensure that their memory lives on.
