A 50 hour Yoga Alliance® accredited program. Unlike more vigorous yoga practices that aim to build strength or increase flexibility through posture work, in Restorative Yoga, we stop trying to control our body and mind and instead rest with support, awareness, and intention. This opens us to the potential for the most profound experiences of connection with our authentic Self. However, Restorative Yoga is an art, science and skill that is not as simple as telling our students to lie down.Rest for All: Restorative Yoga Teacher Training will prepare you to teach full Restorative Yoga classes, incorporate Restorative Yoga postures into more active classes, combine Restorative Yoga with other modalities, and deepen your personal practice of yoga.
In this 50-hour continuing education teacher training program you will learn:
* History of Restorative Yoga: the difference between Restorative Yoga and Yin Yoga philosophies of India as they relate to anatomy of the nervous system.
* The physiological responses of relaxation & trauma-sensitive approaches to teaching Restorative Yoga.
* Five posture families of Restorative Yoga & at least 15 different Restorative Yoga poses. The benefits, applications, and energetics of each, when and how to use the appropriate types props to support the physical, emotional, and energetic bodies of students.
* Ways to address injuries, limitations, and other special conditions.
* How to identify physical and energetic misalignment in Restorative Yoga poses.
* Skills for physical adjustments
* Verbal cues and scripts to guide students into deep relaxation.
* Class planning and sequencing theory
* Guidelines for using Restorative Yoga with private clients and in group classes.
* Compassion cultivation theory, including the benefits of self-compassion and its relationship to Restorative Yoga.
This training is ideal for:
* New yoga teachers who are ready to dive deeper into the specific niche of Restorative Yoga.
* Experienced yoga teachers who want to expand their yoga teaching skills and offerings.
* Anyone interested in deepening their understanding and experience of Restorative Yoga.
About the Teacher:
Tara Lemerise, AYC Level 3 Teacher/CEP, E-RYT 500/YACEP, was expecting the Ashtanga Yoga Primary Series but ended up in a Restorative Yoga class instead. That was her best mistake ever! Tara went on to train in Restorative Yoga with Jillian Pransky, Judith Hanson Laster, and Cyndi Lee and has enthusiastically taught Restorative Yoga since 2005. Tara is deeply committed to spreading the word about how the down-regulating and healing practices of Restorative Yoga can subvert the prevailing capitalist narrative that humans need to be overworked and under-rested to have value. Since 2015, Tara's highly-acclaimed Rest for All: Restorative Yoga Teacher Training has graduated nearly 100 teachers.
