Event Description:
How can artificial intelligence and the limitless potential of human creativity collaborate to create a more just and peaceful world? Columbia University’s MD-ICCCR and Gottesman Library invite you to explore this important question at an event designed to ignite your imagination, challenge your perceptions, and inspire meaningful action.
As conflicts grow more complex and globalized, the tools we use to address them must also evolve. Artificial intelligence has already transformed numerous industries—what could occur if we harness this technology to enhance art’s unique power to connect, heal, and inspire change? In this visionary event, explore how innovative technology and artistic expression can create new pathways for peacebuilding, empower marginalized voices, and drive social justice movements.
What You’ll Experience:
- Inspiring Conversations: Join a panel of thought leaders, including Columbia faculty expert in conflict resolution and curator of an internationally highly successful initiative, “Negotiate 4 Peace” in the Global South, Dilshad Dayani, Ed. D.
- A visionary AI specialist, Dr. Michael Jabbour, from the Office of the CTO at Microsoft. Learn what AI can do to drive social impact in education and the role of ethics and advocacy in addressing some of the world’s most urgent challenges.
- The Founder of Artivism—a group driving social change through art—at Adelphi University, expert Carolina Cambronero Varela, M.S.
- Conversation facilitated by Courtney Chicvak, Esq., Curriculum Development Specialist at the MD-ICCCR, Lecturer at Columbia University and Director, Alternative Dispute Resolution at Long Island Dispute Resolution Ceners.
- Immersive Demos: Experience true stories of resilience from the highly volatile, trauma-informed communities of women in the global south. Witness how local art, media, and crafts were capitalized to teach complex negotiation concepts, challenge injustice, foster gender equity and dialogue, and transform rigid patriarchal cultures.
- Future-Focused Collaboration: Engage in a Question Answer session with the experts and learn the power of Art, AI, and cultural relevancy to shape future policy and mobilize peace, justice, and women empowerment in your communities.
Remember, we all have a role in harnessing AI literacy and tools for meaningful action. Stay after the event to connect with our speakers!
