About this event
This course provides instructional material to home care nurses in the community. The goal is to increase the pool of home care nurses for technology-dependent children requiring high-tech respiratory care.
This instructive hybrid event consists of three prerequisite online lessons and one in-person day that includes: lectures given by our Technology Dependence Center Pulmonologists Howard Panitch, MD; Danna Tauber, MD, MPH; and Stamatia Alexiou, MD; hands-on training; simulation sessions; and a post test.

Objectives for this course
- Verbalize important safety measures to be enforced during every shift of care.
- Recognize common invasive and noninvasive ventilator settings and how they affect the type of support delivered.
- Describe the interventions necessary for different types of ventilator alarms.
- List the variety of available airway clearance measures and the appropriate method of airway clearance, depending on the type of respiratory technology ordered.
- Perform ventilator troubleshooting for the most common ventilators in use in the Mid-Atlantic tri-state area.
- Demonstrate a tracheostomy change along with appropriate care.
The online educational modules open on the day of registration and must be completed by November 6, 2025.
Accreditation Statement: Children's Hospital of Philadelphia is licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Health and accredited by The Joint Commission. This course will award 10.75 CE credit hours for license renewal.

Tickets for this event are $125, which includes access to the online educational modules as well attendance for the in-person event. You must bring your ticket with you on the day of the in-person session, along with personal identification.

On the day of the in-person event, registration starts at 7:30 a.m. EST and ends at 7:50 a.m. EST. The event begins promptly at 8 a.m.
