• Verbalize important safety measures to be enforced during every shift of care.

• Recognize common invasive and noninvasive ventilator settings and how they affect the type of support delivered.

• Describe the interventions necessary for different types of ventilator alarms.

• List the variety of available airway clearance measures and the appropriate method for airway clearance depending on the type of respiratory technology ordered.

• Perform ventilator troubleshooting for the most common ventilators in use in the Mid-Atlantic tri-state area.

• Demonstrate a tracheostomy change along with appropriate care

• Demonstrate understanding of how to respond to an emergency for a mechanically ventilated child.

Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia is licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Health and accredited by The Joint Commission. This course will award 10.75 CE credit hours toward license renewal.
