About this Event

Introduction Course background

The Resource Management Officer Technician (RMOT) Introduction Course is a three-day course that provides participants with baseline knowledge in fisheries resource management, compliance monitoring, reporting and an introduction to observe, record, report theory. The course objectives include introducing participants to the intricate facets of fisheries, instilling safety best practices, fostering community connections and networking opportunities, and career information and guidance post-course.

Course Overview

The RMOT Introduction Course spans three days (~25 hrs), and participants will gain general baseline knowledge on fisheries resource management concepts, compliance monitoring and an introduction to observe, record, report theory through engaging presentations, hands-on activities, and insightful discussions.

Who Should Attend

This course is designed for Indigenous people who are new to, or just beginning their careers in, fisheries and aquatic resource management. It also supports those currently working in related roles by helping them strengthen their knowledge and skills while gaining a deeper understanding of key responsibilities. The program’s goal is to support professional growth and build long-term capacity within communities.
