Den před svým koncertem v Punctum-Krásovka navštíví mexická audiovizuální umělkyně Concepción Huerta Synth Library a popovídá o svém tvůrčím procesu, nástrojích a myšlenkách jejích hudebních projektů. Bude sdílet své úvahy o způsobech poslechu a přiblíží svůj přístup ke zvukové tvorbě, živému míchání a nahrávání s omezením na čtyři stopy.
Join us for a talk with audiovisual artist Concepción Huerta day before her concert at Punctum-Krásovka. She will share the thoughts behind her projects as well as about listening. You will have a chance to learn more about her creative process, different instruments, live mixing as well as sound creation and recording using a 4-track setup. Her recent album El Sol de los Muertos explores techniques of drone music and musique concrète. It is a reflection of colonialism and extractivism inspired by the raging lava veins of Central and South America and tribute to the literary work of Eduardo Galeano.
CONCEPCIÓN HUERTA
is a multidisciplinary artist with a strong background in audiovisual media and a deep focus on the sound spectrum. Her work is developed in different practices such as: sound design, video installations, spatialized concerts, speculative narratives and immersive experiences. His approach to sound begins by reflecting on the relationship between silence-noise, political space, and the sound agent as a means of enunciation. She also investigates resonance, acoustic space and the physical and psychological impact of sound in relation to the listener.
Her sound exploration is through recordings of everyday objects (foleys) and instruments such as synthesizers, which when played and manipulated with tape recorders and processed tapes, create atmospheres based on elements of ambient and noise. She creates sound narratives, which rather than being inserted into a specific musical genre, are closer to the construction of an imagined story. Incorporating the study of synthesis, electricity, voltage, formats and materiality as part of their approach to sound. Exploring it from the most elemental level and how it can be translated by creating technological bridges between analogue and digital processes. Concepcion Huerta is also a member of the experimental ensemble Amor Muere.
In 2025 she released “El Sol de los Muertos“ deeply rooted in drone, musique concrète, and hauntingly visceral textures. The sonic vision of the album evokes an image of open veins, not human veins, but those of the earth itself, the open veins of Latin America. These nervures are, in truth, rivers of lava; fury transmuted into fire coursing beneath the land until it erupts. The album is, in a way, a reflection on dispossession, resource extraction, and colonization. But beyond being a historical commentary—one that some might relegate to a forgotten past—it is also a reminder of the present, of how these practices persist in contemporary, postmodern guises. The album serves as both a tribute to the literary work of Eduardo Galeano, one of the most influential voices of Latin American leftist thought, and a howl from the Lacandon jungle in Mexico, resonating with the Zapatista struggle, the resistance of the Guaraní people in Paraguay and Argentina, and the voices of Indigenous communities across Latin America.
