About this Event
Class Description -
Resonance: A gentle movement-for-wellness class rooted in Indian classical dance (Kathak). Using storytelling, rhythm, voice, and free movement to music, participants are invited to move intuitively, release stress, and reconnect with their bodies - no dance experience required.
Short Bio - Bhargavi Sardesai is a Kathak performer, educator, and choreographer with over 16 years of rigorous training under Guru Pandita Shama Bhate. She holds a Master of Arts in Kathak (with distinction) from Lalit Kala Kendra, Savitribai Phule Pune University, and an MFA from California State University, Long Beach, where she expanded her practice into contemporary and interdisciplinary explorations.
Her performance career spans India and international stages, including appearances at the Beethoven Festival and the World Conference in Bonn, Germany. Now based in the United States, Bhargavi continues to perform, choreograph, and teach, exploring how Kathak’s rhythm, storytelling, and expressiveness resonate within contemporary and diasporic contexts. Her work bridges tradition and experimentation, fostering meaningful engagement with Indian classical movement for diverse audiences
