On2 Bootcamp Calling all Salsa On1 dancers, bachata dancers curious about salsa, newcomers to salsa, and beginners wanting to improve their fundamentals…. New Year’s DANCE resolutions begin with The Resolution Jam Salsa On2 2-hour Beginner Bootcamp on Saturday, January 4th from 2-4PM!
This workshop is led by DMV’s own Vincent Emanuele, a seasoned salsa dancer, performer, and instructor with 17 years of experience combined with five years of training in Latin percussion. In this workshop he will leverage his unique skillset to build your foundations as a dancer while teaching you salsa music conscientiousness at the same time.
The workshop format will be as follows:
* 1st Hour - On2 Footwork Foundations w/ live percussion
* The students will leave with 1) foundational salsa steps, 2) an understanding of why someone would dance “On2” vs “On1”, and 3) a basic understanding of the percussion section of a salsa band and how that relates to the dancer.
* Vincent will be joined by professional percussionist Eduardo Padua 🇵🇷 for this workshop to enable us to feel the music more in our dancing.
* 2nd Hour - On2 Partnerwork Foundations
* The students will leave the 2nd hour with 1) a basic understanding of technique for "connection" in partnering between leads/follows, 2) foundational turn patterns that set the students up for rapid progression, and 3) beginner-appropriate styling tips for the follows.
* Vincent will be joined by DMV's own salsera sabrosa Fabiola Chevarria for the partnerwork part of the workshop.
