About this Event
In the market for a charcuterie board? Perhaps you want to replace an old one or create the perfect gift. Maybe you've thought about the beautiful boards in stores or online but really want the product to have a personal touch, or you've wondered about how those funky boards in shops are made? It can be overwhelming to invest in all the products before seeing if resin is a medium for you. How do you choose the right resin for your project? How does the medium work? How much do you need? You've landed at the perfect workshop for all your questions!
In this class, you will learn the basics of how to choose resin for your project, how to calculate and mix resin, how to use mica powders/ink, how to flood coat on wood, and how to finish your project. No experience necessary!
This class specifically handles charcuterie board flood coating. We will have several styles to choose from in maple, english walnut, and other hardwoods. You will not be making the boards themselves! Just the resin coating on the top. We will prepare and finish the wood prior to class.
Boards will approximately be between 14"-16" long and 6"-8" wide with handles and without (both styles to choose from).
Materials included in the class:
-100ml of Resin for the flood coating
-Gloves
-All mixing supplies (stir sticks, pails, acetone, etc)
-Glitters, beads, stickers, flowers, gold foil, lots of stuff to add!
-Take-home information sheet
-Choice out of several boards of different wood varieties-all hardwood
-Any resin you don't use on your board can be used in a mold--nothing wasted here :)
Some of the resin we use may take up to 48 hours to cure completely. All projects will be available for pick-up, organized between each participant and the artist.
Also, a general liability waiver must be signed prior to class. Working with resin is very safe but it is very important to follow all safety guidelines described by the instructor as ingesting or absorbing resin can be toxic.
Due to space limitations, classes are limited to 4 participants.
FAQ
Can I take my project home right away?
No. Resin takes time to cure fully. Pickup is available 3 days after the class.
What happens if I am from out of town but want to take this class? Do you ship?
Yes, we can ship your creations at your expense after the curing period. Or, if you visit often we can hold them for you :)
Is this a Makerlabs Class?
No, it is a Mad Method Studio class. We run out classes out of Makerlabs but they do not oversee our classes, we do! So if you have questions or special requests for private groups, please direct them to us :)
