researchED Toronto - From Evidence to More Equitable Outcomes
About this Event
Welcome to researchED Toronto!
ResearchED Canada traces its roots to the broader researchED movement founded by Tom Bennett in the United Kingdom. Established in 2013, researchED was created to foster greater dialogue between educational research and classroom practice and to provide educators with opportunities to engage directly with research and evidence about teaching and learning.
ResearchED was first brought to Canada by Paul Bennett, who organized the inaugural Canadian conference in 2017 and continued to serve as Chair of researchED Canada until 2025. Under the leadership of Paul and subsequent Chairs, researchED Canada has grown into a vibrant community of educators, researchers, and education professionals committed to evidence-informed professional learning.
While researchED Canada remains connected to the broader international researchED community, it operates as an independent Canadian organization with its own leadership, governance, programming, and conference planning. Today, researchED Canada continues to build on the original vision of connecting research and practice through conferences, professional dialogue, and the open exchange of ideas.
Leading the conversation this year is Kareem Weaver, a powerful advocate for literacy as a fundamental civil right; Zaretta Hammond, who bridges the gap between neuroscience and culturally responsive teaching; and Nick Gibb, a pivotal figure in UK education policy known for his unwavering focus on evidence-based standards. Together with other distinguished voices, they will dive deep into how scientific insights and proven methodologies can be translated directly into the classroom to elevate student achievement.
