About this Event
Nursena Caksen is a multidisciplinary designer and freelance art director based in New York City, originally from the DC metro area (DMV). She studied design at the University of Maryland, College Park and went on to work at the World Bank, United Nations Foundation, and FGS Global.
She has built her career around creative work that merges concept, culture and bold visual storytelling. Over the years, she’s had the opportunity to collaborate with a range of brands and agencies, bringing energy, intentionality and play. Her approach combines intuitive design with sharp cultural insight, allowing her to craft narratives that feel both personal and widely resonant. Her work has been recognized by The Telly Awards, the American Advertising Awards, and more.
In addition to her creative practice, she serves as the Social Media Chair for AIGA DC. When she’s not designing, Nursena can be found (literally) running around the city, making coffee for friends, or working on creative projects that keep her imagination moving.
This talk is a part of the Studio Arts and Design Research + Practice lecture and conversation series, occurring on Wednesday nights. The Research + Practice series invites acclaimed artists, writers, critics and scholars to the Corcoran School throughout the year. The talks are free to the public, providing both the community and our students access to thought-provoking examples of contemporary research and practice and a chance to engage with leading cultural figures. Speakers are nominated and selected by the Studio Arts and Design programs, hosted by students and faculty at the historic Beaux Arts Flagg Building in Washington, D.C. Dates for the Research + Practice series are listed below.
We look forward to seeing you soon!
