About this Event
This Research Culture Café – Career Transitions forms part of the (2-6 March) and is co-hosted by Abertay University and the University of Dundee.
In this Research Culture Café on Career Transitions, we will explore the many routes researchers take—within universities, across sectors, and into entirely new professional arenas. Whether participants are at the beginning of their journey, contemplating a change, or simply curious about what possibilities exist, the café creates a supportive environment to share experiences, ask questions, and gain insights from peers.
Through guided conversation prompts, reflective exercises, and collective knowledge-sharing, attendees will:
- Discover and articulate their transferable skills
- Explore a range of potential career pathways
- Hear about common transition challenges and strategies to navigate them
- Build confidence in shaping their own career narrative
- Connect with a community of colleagues facing similar questions
This relaxed, discussion‑based event aims to empower researchers to take their next steps with clarity and confidence—whatever direction they choose.
Lunch is provided!
The session is led by Dr Mhairi Towler, Researcher Advancement and Culture Manager, University of Dundee and Josine Opmeer, Research Grant and REF Development Specialist, Abertay University
