Resawing and Book Matching a Wood Slab

This workshop will cover: milling a rough slab of wood, jointing, planning, resawing, gluing and clamping. The finished table size may be about 12 to 16 inches wide and 36 to 54 inches long. Applying a finish is optional. A set of hairpin legs made by the Makerspace may be purchased for $30 or you may provide your own legs or make your own custom legs at a later time. Applying a finish and adding legs are optional.

The 2 part class will also be lead by Akron Makerspace Member Brian Byars.

The registration fee covers the cost of instruction, processing fees and machine use. In addition to the registration fee an $80.00 material fee for the slab is due to Brian Byars. Brian will have multiple slabs to choose from. Registrants will be messaged ahead of class with material payment information.

Other fees involved would be optional hairpin legs as mentioned earlier, a limited number are available.

Current Akron Makerspace Members should request the code for $40 off the ticket price prior to signing up.

A minimum of 4 students are needed for the class, fewer than that will result in the class being cancelled.

Info: Flattening, resawing, ripping and planning the slab. Book matching and gluing up the two halves and clamping to dry will complete the first day.

Info: Sanding, finishing and adding pre made legs if chosen. The length of class will not permit the fabrication of legs, A limited number of hairpin legs will be available for purchase or you may bring your own.
