Giuseppe Verdi’s Messa da Requiem bears the name of a sacred form, but its sweep and power proclaim “Theater”! From the terrifying fury of the Dies Irae to the tremulous submission of the Libera Me, this Requiem is a heightened contemplation of life’s end as only Verdi could evoke it.Canterbury is joined by soloists: Hannah Spierman (soprano), Daryl Freedman (mezzo-soprano), Blake Friedman (tenor), Matthew Anchel (bass).
