About this Event
Over the past 12 months in Singapore, we’ve witnessed a growing anti-imperialist struggle that has persisted despite crackdowns from many quarters. Many activists, community organisers, grassroots groups and creative efforts have bloomed in resistance to genocide, weapons and war industries, and colonial occupation.
Those who have dared to speak up and take action have been met with intense repression in the form of surveillance, police investigations, sanctions from employers and schools, pressure from family and community, online hate comments, and more. Some of this is public knowledge, but much has remained in the shadows.
TJC has put together a research report that breaks the silence on these attacks against civilians who are speaking up. Through 20 interviews and a focus group discussion with people at the heart of this movement, we also asked - despite all the backlash, what has kept you going?
If you’d like to hear their answers, join us at the launch of our report!
The event will start with a discussion of our findings, followed by reflections from the community and interventions from the floor.
Dinner is provided. See you there!
