Repairing Cloth Bound Books

Learn the bookbinding repair technique of cloth re-backing, using conservation standard techniques including; hinge repair, spine repair, joint repair and any arising issues.

This workshop is a great starting place to learn about book conservation and repair.

It’s a stepping stone to repairing at home and feeling confident with bookbinding processes.

Skill Level / Advanced: Experienced and confident binders who have previously completed some training

About your tutor:

David is founder & principal conservator of Book Studio One. He has worked in the printing, paper & conservation sectors for over 50 years. He qualified as a conservator through completion of a Diploma in Book & Archives Conservation at the Colchester Institute & a Higher National Diploma in Conservation Studies from Lincolnshire College of Art, UK.

David has worked in senior positions for Nottinghamshire County Archives in the UK, the National Library of New Zealand, the State Library of Western Australia & Auckland Libraries. In the private sector he was co-founder & principal conservator with Triptych Conservation Services Ltd.
