Repair Club: Buttons & Patches – Simple Clothing Repairs.

Join us at TOG Hackerspace for the next in our new Repair Club series.
Repair Club is a little different from a Repair Café. Rather than fixing a wide range of items, each session takes a deeper dive into one practical repair topic.
This time, we are focusing on simple clothing repairs.
You will get hands-on experience with basic textile repairs, including:
- Sewing buttons back on by hand
- Adding patches by hand
- Looking at when a machine-sewn patch might be the better option
- Choosing between visible and more discreet mending
- Making small repairs that can help favourite clothes last longer
We will focus on woven fabrics such as shirts, trousers, jackets, cushions and similar items. The same skills can also be useful for toys, bags and some furniture repairs. Socks, T-shirts and other stretchy fabrics will have to wait for another Repair Club.
This will be a practical, beginner-friendly session. Please bring along one or two clean items that need a button replaced or a small hole patched, and we will work through the repairs together. If you are unsure whether an item is suitable, send us a message before the event.
No sewing experience is needed. It is a good place to start if you have always meant to learn how to make simple repairs but have not known where to begin.

Cost: €7.50, with all ticket income going as a donation to TOG Hackerspace
