About this Event
Join REP Studio trainers Sandy, Paige and Ar'tesha AND guest somatic facilitator ImagineJoy for a two-part reading and practice group series in observance of Black August, hosted in-person at North Regional Library.
These sessions are dedicated to the teachings and values of Black August, including an introduction to the month's origin and a close reading of George Jackson's writings. Our readings center the history of Black radical movements, the sacrifices made by political prisoners, and ways we can build upon their work.
We end each of these sessions with a practice of breathing and gentle movement facilitated by ImagineJoy. These practices help us to integrate the readings into our bodies and reflect on our personal political commitments toward collective liberation 💜
This Radical Study Group Series will be hosted IN PERSON at North Regional Library. They will take place on the following Tuesday evenings from 6:00-7:30PM CST
Session 1: Tuesday, August 19th at 6:00-7:30 PM
