International touring Kaia String Quartet can be found in concert halls worldwide, yet they are equally comfortable on the stage of the Chicago Jazz Fest! From the tango of the Rio de la Plata to the quartets of Revueltas, this high-energy group of musicians is dedicated to promoting the rich and colorful music of Latin America. Violinists Victoria Moreira and Naomi Club; Susan Bengston Price, viola; and Hope DeCelle, cello; will transport you to exotic Latin locations and make you dream of vacations that can be taken there!
Featured Artist: Ken Reif
Rendezvous Arts Board member/painter Ken Reif will be this event’s visual artist. Ken’s rich color palettes and unique angles in his nature paintings make you just stop, stare, and breathe–and his paintings of jazz musicians are equally as breathtaking. In Ken’s own words:
At an early age, I formed a deep respect for nature, a respect I transfer to canvas. I am also a musician and my love of music compels me to paint portraits of musicians too. I begin the process by priming the surface black then using an impressionist palette I create my work. Capturing through the Artist's eye vibrant colors that evoke emotion, causing the viewer to pause, to think, and to enjoy in the now.
