Renaissance Miniature Masterclass

Discover the beauty and craftsmanship of Renaissance miniature illumination in this immersive one-day workshop.

Inspired by historical illuminated manuscripts, you will create a richly detailed miniature painting featuring an ornate capital ‘G’ with a stylised goldfinch, using traditional materials and techniques including genuine gold leaf and gouache paints.

Throughout the day, you will learn how to apply real gold leaf, build luminous layers of gouache to create depth and a three-dimensional effect, and develop fine brushwork to bring refinement and detail to your work.

This workshop is suitable for those with some previous painting experience and for anyone who has attended one of my painting or calligraphy workshops before. It is not designed for complete beginners.

All materials are provided, including genuine 23 carat gold leaf, giving you the opportunity to experience the timeless methods used by historical illuminators.
