At 10.50am we gather at the Lych Gate which is at the main entrance to the church yard on Town Lane for a short remembrance service concluding with 2mins silence at 11am before moving into church for our usual worship service.
The Lych Gate is the Idle War Memorial. The names of those commemorated as having lost their lives in the two World Wars are inscribed on the two walls of the Lych Gate. The memorial commemorates 154 names from the First World War and 61 names from the Second World War. Amongst the names commemorated on the memorial are those of two soldiers who served with the Yorkshire Regiment.
