THE BATTLING BISHOPBISHOP ROBERT WISHART
One of Scotland's Greatest Patriots Robert Wishart Bishop of Glasgow Cathedral Died 26th November 1316.
As a young man he was a Privy councelor for Alexander III King of Scots and was at The Battle of Largs October 1263 when Scotland was invaded by the Vikings. After Scotland was invaded by Edward I in 1296 he kept up the Fight for Scotland's INDEPENDENCE. He Fought alongside William Wallace & later Robert The Bruce. He hid William Wallace in the cathedral when he was being chased by the English. There are so many stories regarding Bishop Robert Wishart & the assistance he gave to William Wallace & Robert The Bruce. He provided the robes for the Coronation of Robert The Bruce.
This man fought in many battles for Scotland's Freedom even in his sixties. He was captured at the Battle of Methven in 1306 and was put in prison in London up to 1314 were he was kept in total darkness. He was released in 1314 after prisoners were exchanged after the Battle of Bannockburn. When he was released he was totally Blind after being kept in total darkness from 1306 to 1314. He lived a further two years until 26th November 1316.

Robert Wishart is buried in the Crypt of Glasgow Cathedral.
