September 30 is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, a time to honour survivors, remember the children who never returned home, and reflect on the history and lasting impact of residential schools. September is also the month when many children were taken from their families to begin the school year in residential institutions. This September, led by Kookum Karen, the Elders-in-Residence invite you to reflect and remember by creating a small orange origami shirt on Wednesday, September 10, 2025.This initiative will conclude on September 29, 2025, from 3:00 - 4:00 p.m. with the burning ceremony - participants will have the opportunity to offer the paper shirts to the spirit with tobacco, love and gratitude in a short ceremony.
