Looking for a fascinating evening of local history? 🏛️
Join us at The Dayton Woman’s Club for Remembering Dayton’s Canal Era, presented by Dayton historian Andrew Hershner.
Long before highways shaped the city, the Miami and Erie Canal played an important role in Dayton’s growth and development. Andrew will explore the construction and route of the canal through Dayton, including its hydraulics and the buildings and businesses that once lined its banks.
Featuring historic photographs and stories of the city during the canal era, the presentation will also look at the canal’s eventual decline and the traces it left behind.
