About this Event
Could you support a young person at a critical point in their life?
Remand foster carers provide short-term, stable homes for young people awaiting court outcomes or on bail. It’s a specialist role that offers young people stability, boundaries, and support during a challenging time.
At this informal drop-in event, you can learn more about what remand fostering involves, the support available, and whether it could be right for you.
Who this role may suit
We’re particularly interested in hearing from people with experience supporting children and young people, including:
- Foster care
- Youth justice or policing
- Residential or secure children’s homes
- Youth work, mentoring, or outreach
- Education or behaviour support
- Probation, mental health, or community safety
- Working with vulnerable young people
What remand foster carers provide
- A safe, stable home with clear and consistent boundaries
- Support using a trauma-informed approach
- Advocacy and partnership working with professionals including social care, youth justice services, schools and courts
What support you’ll receive
- Specialist remand fostering training
- A dedicated supervising social worker
- 24/7 professional support
- £937 per week, plus additional allowances for the young person
