Relief Printmaking is CANCELLED
Unfortunately, we did not reach the minimum students necessary to run the class. There will be another printmaking class offered in September with Cathie Crawford
Saturday, May 25
10:00am-5:00pm
Katrina Morrison, instructor
CAC Member: $140; Nonmember: $160
Minimum students required: 6 Maximum students: 8
Deadline for registration: May 18 by midnight
About the class: Discover the basics of relief printmaking in a one-day workshop. Relief printmaking is a very simple process that can be done at home. In this class, an image is drawn on a sheet of linoleum. The areas that are not part of the image are removed using gouges and knives, leaving the image in relief. Ink is rolled onto the linoleum surface, and paper is placed on the linoleum. Pressure is applied to the back of the paper, transferring the relief image to the paper with or without a press. Hand burnishing can be done at home without a press.
All materials and tools required for the class will be provided, except for the items below. Students will leave with a cutting tool set and a small edition of prints.
Student Material List: pencil, eraser, a roll of paper towels and an apron if desired. All other materials are included.
The class will be held in the 3rd floor classroom.
About the instructor:
Katrina Morrison graduated from Bradley University in 1993 with a BFA, studying printmaking, painting and drawing. In 2000, she formed Aledo Art Guild to teach art classes. She was the Artist for Metro Arts for the Quad City Arts in 2002-3. She currently operates a studio/art gallery called Garden Thyme in Bishop Hill where she teaches art and sells her artwork.
