About this Event
In this 6-session course, Jules from Heron Pond Studio will guide you through the linocut printmaking process. This is a special opportunity to learn from a local expert!

Participants will learn from start to finish how to create their own thoughtful and unique prints on paper. Classes will include a step-by-step demo of the linocut process, examples of work Jules has done, instruction on coming up with ideas, creating drawings, what to consider when including words or text, and when using a variety of materials to carve and to print on.
Plus, participants will get to incorporate a variety of unique and beautiful papers from Paper Connection's collection, i.e. great paper with be included in your course fee!
However, students will need to purchase in advance a list of supplies provided by the instructor, like carving tools, linoleum , etc. A list of supplies will be ready for purchase at Blick Art Materials in Providence, or as otherwise advised by instructor. Look for further instructions about buying tools early next month (October); about 2 weeks before the course starts.
6-student minimum, so sign up with a friend or two!
The Art Annex encourages folks from all backgrounds to particpate in learning at our safe and welcoming community space. For this course, participants must be at least 10 years old. *
*. this class involves using sharp carving tools. A guardian will need to sign a waiver for a young person to join.
About the Instructor
Jules has been a printmaker for over 40 years. Heron Pond Studio has been a working studio for over 30 years—currently as a studio in Fall River, MA at the Narrows Center For The Arts. Jules has participated in many shows in RI, the Boston area, New Jersey, Philly, and Baltimore over the years. Jules’ work doesn't just consist of one kind of image—the full body of work includes animals, people, places, things, and a lot of imagination! Jules has also taught classes and given printing demonstrations in her studio space, kids summer camp programs, and in churches and museums.
