Come join us at Gosforth Civic Theatre this October for a special screening of this 90's gothic horror classic in which you can draw, knit, crochet or craft-along while you watch the film.
About the film:
Based on the bestselling vampire novel by Anne Rice, this haunting gothic tale follows the story of the centuries-old tormented vampire Louis (Brad Pitt) as he recounts his dark and tragic journey of immortality, love, and loss alongside the charismatic but cruel Lestat (Tom Cruise). The cast also includes Kirsten Dunst, Antonio Banderas, Thandiwe Newton, and Christian Slater. This year marks the 30th anniversary of this must-see gothic horror for vampire fans.
This film has been programmed by Beacon Films programmer Juliet Fraser, who will give a short introduction to the film.
About the craft-a-long:
During this screening, the audience is encouraged to enjoy a fun, creative pastime such as knitting, crochet, drawing or paper based crafts while watching the film. We know that some people can find it a lot easier to watch films while doing something else at the same time. This is completely optional - you are also welcome to just sit and watch the film!
- There will be a mixture of cinema-style seating and caberet-style tables with seating.
- You can bring your own knitting, crochet or craft project if you wish.
- You can also buy a pre-made craft pack to use during the screening as part of your ticket purchase.
About this Relaxed Screening:
This event is designed to be a relaxed and inclusive experience for disabled and neurodivergent audiences, their family, friends and supporters. It is open to anyone who is accepting of audiences with a range of access requirements. Enjoy this 90's vampire classic in a welcoming atmosphere. We can't wait to see you there!
During this screening:
- The lights will stay on at a low level
- The volume will be a bit lower
- You can move around and make some noise if you need to
- There will be a chill out space if you need to take a break
- The film will have English Language Descriptive Subtitles
- No ads or trailers
- A 2 minute film about how Relaxed Screenings work will be screened just before the film
- There will be a short pre-recorded and captioned introduction to the film by the programmer, Juliet Fraser from Beacon Films
Please note, this screening is for people over the age of 15 ONLY. You may be asked to provide ID on the door.
The screening is by Daydream Cinema, a new Newcastle-based neurodivergent-led organisation supporting access to cinema for neurodivergent and disabled audiences.
