Movement is one of the oldest ways humans communicate. Before we had language, we had rhythm and touch.Join us for a donation-based Contact Improvisation class where we’ll explore how movement can become a form of connection and conversation without words. This class is open to all bodies and all experience levels. You do not need to be a dancer. Together we will explore:
• Moving through different levels (floor, mid-level, standing)
• Leading with different parts of the body
• Solo movement and body awareness
• Dancing in pairs and small groups
• A contact improv jam at the end where you can freely explore what you’ve learned
Contact improvisation is a practice of listening through movement. No choreography. No pressure to perform. No need to explain yourself. What you might experience:
• Playful connection with yourself and others
• A way to communicate without overthinking or overexplaining
•A meditative state that calms your nervous system
First time? Perfect. Most people attending will be beginners. Everything will be guided and accessible.
March 22 from 3:30-5pm
Donation-based (pay what feels good)
Bring comfortable clothes you can move in and water.
