About this Event
Law enforcement is a hot button issue across the world. Most will agree that there is some type of authoritative presence needed to keep civilians safe from harm and to maintain order within communities. This can resemble: neighborhood policing, a community watchman, tenant patrol, block association, private security, and what we universally have, local police departments. The goal of these entities is to keep people safe from crime. Pushback and outcry occurs when harm has been done by members of law enforcement towards those they oath to protect and serve. When intentional and unintentional harm occurs towards civilians: questions of accountability and transparency arise. Often brought to the forefront are questions about the officer's background regarding past infractions. Very seldom does the public question the process of screening out the bad apples.
The goal of this forum is to discuss specific tools to increase public safety: protecting civilians from harm directed towards each other and also harm by officers against civilians. Attendees will gain a better understanding of how to achieve a safer society through establishing a safer police force
