About this Event
Reimagining Amhurst Road Wild Walkshop
Hackney Central is being reimagined as a greener, healthier, and more playful space. It has actual cash behind it to plant trees, improve pedestrian access, and make the area more accessible to the 30% of residents who are often most overlooked - children.
Hackney Council has asked Outdoor People to gather the views of children and their families and carers to come for a walk around the area, reflect on our favourite places to play, relax, and wander, and suggest improvements around Hackney Central.
There will be snacks and drinks at the start and finish, and everyone joining will get some Hackney Wild Walks maps to take home.
We are particularly seeking children and their families who live within ten minutes walk of Amhurst Road, or who travel around here often to shop, to go to school or to visit. That said any Hackney resident is welcome - part of the purpose of the transformation will be to make this area a hub for residents.
You will definitely see central Hackney in a whole new light!
Details
Meet outside our Community Shop (on the Narrow-way, opposite Hackney Central Overground) and then we'll head out for about an hour. To keep us lively, snacks and (cold) drinks will be available at the start and end. Crayons and paper will be available in case anyone wants to draw their ideas instead of or as well as talking about them.
We will be recording this walk and taking some pictures to illustrate our report to the council. We will let all participants know the outcomes! We will only share images where we have full permission.
If you want to know more, do pop in to the shop or contact [email protected]
