Join us for an Upcycling Fashion Workshop!
We’re excited to welcome workshop facilitator Chelita McDuffie, Owner of That’s Sew Creative! DFW.
Chelita is a Dallas-based fashion entrepreneur, educator, and community builder. She founded That’s Sew Creative! in 2022 as a mobile sewing studio to make creativity accessible to everyone—from youth and adults to schools, libraries, and community centers across the DFW area. What began as small pop-up classes has grown into a movement that blends sewing, design, and hands-on innovation, giving people the tools to create, connect, and express themselves.
She is also the founder of the Sew a Seed Foundation, a nonprofit expanding access to sewing education and creative career pathways, particularly for underserved and BIPOC communities. Through her work, Chelita is building an ecosystem where fashion, technology, and community intersect—empowering the next generation of makers and innovators.
This hands-on workshop is all about exploring creative ways to rethink fashion through sustainability. You’ll experiment with materials, learn new techniques, and walk away with skills you can use again and again.
🧵 Workshop Highlights:

• Bring your own materials—clothing, accessories, or anything you’d like to reinvent
• Additional supplies available on-site
• Access to sewing stations (feel free to bring your own machine!)
👗 Optional Fashion Show Opportunity:
Participants are invited (but not required!) to showcase a piece in our May 14 End-of-Year Luncheon & Fashion Show, where a model will walk the runway wearing your design. You may feature something created during the workshop or a piece you’ve designed previously—the choice is yours.
The workshop will focus on creating an accessory or simple fashion piece, with time beyond the workshop to refine your item if you choose to participate.
