About this Event
Gary Roosevelt is listed on the National Register of Historic Places for its architectural and historical significance, most notably as a cornerstone of the African American community in Gary, Indiana, during the era of forced segregation in the 20th century. Last year, the National Trust for Historic Preservation named it one of America’s 11 Most Endangered Historic Places.
Indiana Landmarks Black Heritage Preservation Program and the National Theodore Roosevelt Alumni Association are working with the community to reimagine the site to best support the surrounding community.
This brainstorm session will allow the community to join in a facilitated discussion on the needs of the community and view preliminary design ideas based on a previous focus group.
This is the next step in a lengthy process to secure funding for the redevelopment of this building. By attending this meeting you will ensure your desires for the building and the community are heard.
This meeting will be facilitated by Black Onyx Management in partnership with Positive Image Consulting.
