Endlessly surprising and curiously moving, this late Euripidean romance features Helen of Troy, who has been spirited away to Egypt in a cloud while a phantom of herself was taken to Troy by adulterous Paris.
Now, years after the debacle of the Trojan War, Helen’s shipwrecked husband King Menelaos rediscovers his wife on the banks of the Nile, and together this middle-aged couple plot their miraculous return home.
This program is directed and presented by Carey Perloff, artistic director emerita at the American Conservatory Theater.
