Reggae Got Soul

Our second fundraiser of 2024 is for FRESH START who do such invaluable work across Edinburgh.

In their own words -

“FRESH START has been supporting people as they move on from homelessness into unfurnished tenancies across the city of Edinburgh for over 20 years. We focus not only on homelessness prevention, but the period following temporary accommodation or rough sleeping where tenancy is gained in order to tackle the cycle of repeat homelessness.

We have various services; the 'Starter Packs' that provide essential household goods to people moving on from homelessness, The 'Fresh Homes' service who paint and decorate tenancies to make them welcoming and homely, as well as community cooking, gardening and training initiatives that operate from our premises in Northwest Edinburgh, in an area of multiple deprivation. Additionally, this location hosts our food Pantry which offers a more dignified alternative to foodbank use.

Typically, those accessing services are surviving on low incomes, often with limited support networks, and may lack the confidence to develop networks in their new community, which is why the services are vital.”

Musically REGGAE GOT SOUL will be delivering our unique blend of High Grade Reggae and Top-a-Top Soul on a 60/40 rotation throughout the evening from DJs Jeremiyah and George with the indomitable gLyrical Lion Ras Ista as MC
