About Josh David Barrett:
Two time Grammy Nominated singer and bassist, Josh David, whose musical journeys carried him from his “churchical” upbringings, to performing with today’s top artists, his musical works have spanned the last 20 plus years with the top artists of the day. Having joined the legendary band The Wailers in 2015, they continue to spread JAH message of One Love in the Roots, Rock, Reggae sound as created and inspired by the great Bob Marley & The Wailers. A native of New Jersey of indigenous and Jamaican ascent, Josh David was blessed to grow up around many cutting edge musicians, hailing from the same Union County, NJ as the legendary Funk group, George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic.
Before joining The Wailers, his extensive experience as a bassist and producer led him to work with many Gospel greats such as: Bishop George Searight & Royal Priesthood, Tramaine Hawkins, Kim Burrell, Donovan Jackson & Joshua Generation, and many others. After receiving his B.A. in Jazz Performance from William Paterson University, he went on to record and perform with such artists as: Q-Tip(ATCQ), Common, Quincy Jones, Mary J. Blige, Joy Denalane, Smif n Wesson, Silent Knight, Soul Cycle, Soul Understated, Zoe Maza(Germany), Solange, Kendrick Lamar, Nas, and Kanye West. In recent times, Josh David has worked with top Bluesman and CEO of True Groove Global Soul Records, Tomás Doncker; renowned Ethiopian singer Teddy Afro, and Grammy award winning producer Commissioner Gordon(Lauryn Hill, Amy Winehouse, Ghetto Youths, White Tiger Society).
The call to Reggae music inspired Josh David to form the band called, Judah Tribe in 2004, a collaboration of friends and local bandmates with whom they released their debut album “Nu Day Dawnin” in 2013. Destiny would have it that Judah Tribe would open for The Wailers in 2012 at N.J. P.A.C.(Newark, NJ), where he and distant relatives Aston “Family Man” Barrett, Sr. and Aston Jr. would cross paths, leading to his joining forces with the Wailers team three years later. In honor and homage to the original “3 Wise Men” who laid the path before him, “The Wailin’ Wailers”, The Honorable Robert Nesta Marley, O.M., The Honorable Peter Tosh, O.M., and The Honorable Bunny Wailer, O.M., Josh David continues to lead with his energetic performances. Whether with Wailers, his own band, or as a support, his mission remains steadfast in giving “Ises”(praises) to Ethiopia’s “Talaku Meri”(Great Leader), and Rastafarian God, Emperor Haile Selassie I, spreading the message of true “Livity” in the name of The LORD.
About Green Lion Crew:
From an early age, Green Lion Crew’s Zeke Stern and Dana Knowles became students of the sounds of Caribbean Culture. Drawing from a diverse musical blend of reggae, dancehall, electronic, and hip hop, they have become tastemakers and well respected producers in the modern reggae scene.
Recognizing talent early on and not following hype has enabled them to work with artists like Collie Buddz, Kabaka Pyramid, Chronixx, Busy Signal, Sizzla, Capleton, Jesse Royal, Dre Island, and many more. In 2019, Green Lion started working with Ineffable Records. Their first release with the label “Be Still” was released to great critical acclaim and it reached to #6 on the Billboard Reggae Charts. Green Lion Crew’s listeners continue to rise on Spotify as their single “Keep Blazin’” with Roe Summerz led to a 91% increase in listeners in one month. Productions with Collie Buddz, Chronixx, Kabaka Pyramid, Beenie Man, and Akae Beka among others have proven that Green Lion Crew can bring an effective, fresh approach to the table while showing respect to the original sound.
Green Lion produced the track “Lyrics Deity” on Kabaka Pyramid’s album “Kontraband” which was executive produced by Damian Marley and released on his label Ghetto Youths International. Green Lion’s original productions have been heard on ESPN, Vice TV and X-Games while earning support from tropical-pop tastemakers Walshy Fire of Major Lazer and David Rodigan from BBC 1xtra.
