About this Event

The Future Isn’t Something We Wait For, It’s Something We Grow!

For four decades, the Blackwood Educational Land Institute has been a place where curiosity takes root, connections flourish, and the next generation discovers the power of caring for the land and one another. Through immersive, hands-on experiences in regenerative agriculture, environmental stewardship, and nature-based education, Blackwood has inspired children, families, educators, and community leaders to cultivate healthier communities and a more resilient future.

As we celebrate 40 years of impact, growth, and transformation, we invite you to join us for the Second Annual ReGenerate Luncheon on Thursday, October 22, 2026, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Skyfarm in Houston.

Our keynote speaker for this year will be , a visionary landscape architect whose transformative work has fundamentally reshaped the civic, cultural, and ecological identity of Houston. As the Senior Principal of Nelson Byrd Woltz Landscape Architects, Woltz approaches Houston, not just as an urban sprawl, but as a dynamic ecosystem filled with buried histories and resilient natural narratives. His signature methodology of marrying deep botanical research with cultural storytelling has given Houstonians some of their most iconic and healing public sanctuaries including Memorial Park, and The Ismali Center.

Woltz is also a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects Council of Fellows, among the highest honors achieved in his profession, and was named the “Design Innovator of the Year” by the Wall Street Journal Magazine. He has also been recognized as “one of the most creative people in business” by Fast Company, and is a recipient of the “Land for People Award” by the Trust for Public Land.

Our luncheon will be hosted by R. W. "Mister" McKinney - a historian, educator, and preservation advocate dedicated to bringing Houston's rich history to life .

We are proud to recognize Joy Warren as our ReGenerate 2026 Honoree for her outstanding leadership and dedication to philanthropy, conservation, and community-building.

This meaningful gathering honors Blackwood's enduring legacy as a Regenified Certified® farm while embracing an exciting vision for the future of regenerative education. Together, we will celebrate the people, partnerships, and shared commitment that continue to nurture a thriving environment for generations to come.

We hope you will join us as we celebrate 40 years of growing minds, restoring landscapes, and sowing the seeds for a healthier future.
