Healing ReTREAT: Connect with Soul, Mama Earth, and Community FromSoil2Soul invites YOU, changemakers, to an immersive, nourishing retreat to exhale in a safe space: a desert sanctuary. We will dance together and alone. We'll gather around the SaltBowl for Havdallah, and have an all-night GONG immersion under the stars led by Gong Goddess Acumomma, Yaelle Shaphir and a sacred cacao ceremony.

Sleep outside in tents, explore the magic of community, and connect with nature. Share time in silence and sound, stillness and movement as we connect the dots fromsoil2soul. The weekend will be a time to heal and resource. A time to regenerate... a time to feed the land that feeds us, and a time to end this Sabbatical year with LOVE, and double down in our commitments to intersectional healing over the coming seven year cycle.

We’ll make herbal remedies, share a song circle and have mini workshop offerings like challah-kneading, prayershare, and eARTh art and whatever you choose to offer as one of our guides! Listening circle, ceremony, yoga...

We will cook together and share plant-based food throughout the weekend.

This will be a magical weekend away with great programming and the highest quality food. In keeping with the sacred agrarian Jewish law of tithing, 10% of the retreat earnings will be donated to the Tongva Taraxat Paxaavxa Conservancy (TTPC).

@Dev.Brous is a mama, an urban homesteader, and earth-based educator, and founder of FromSoil2Soul. She is a TEDx speaker, writer, and an organizer with systems-impacted communities. Dev was the founding Executive Director of Netiya (a food justice nonprofit on the Tongva lands (LA), as well as BUSTAN, (orchard), an award-winning Jewish/Bedouin civil rights and environmental justice NGO. She is a seasoned healing justice community organizer for 25 years. With two Masters degrees in Development Studies and Israel Studies from Hebrew University and has been trained extensively in conflict transformation, facilitation, and non-violent communication. Dev is a UC Master Gardener, and is certified in composting, bio-intensive farming, and Permaculture design. She is passionate about fermenting and canning homegrown food; aquaponics; and wildcrafting herbal medicine for family and friends. Dev guides clients through customized Sabbaticals to regenerate from burnout, and leads monthly newMOON and FULLmoon circles and believes in the power of the land to grow equity and health, and to bring us all together.

ALL THAT YOU NEED FOR RECLINING COMFORTABLY UNDER THE STARS:

Camping cot or reclining lounge chair that allows you to rest/sleep/meditate above the desert floor (The desert floor has living nocturnal inhabitants so a simple yoga mat or sleeping bag or inflatable mattress on the ground will not suffice). There are several zero-gravity chairs available - please text to reserve.

Sleeping bag/comforter/blanket for warmth, pillow, stuffed animal/lovey.

NOURISHMENT/HYDRATION:

Reusable water bottle and water (we will provide water and electrolyte infused enhanced water/herbal tea).

Mug/Coffee Cup for tea/cacao/hot beverage

Snacks for communal night sharing table if you wish - dates, nuts provided.

We welcome any and all food/wine/snacks contributions for communal feasting.

THE SOUND MEDICINE/INSTRUMENTS:

Want to share your play? Bring your Gong! Bring a drum or didgeridoo or flute. Bring any accompanying acoustical instruments to enhance this co-creative magical overnight experience! For instance: singing bowls, shruti/harmonium, conch/sounding sea horn, voice, etc.

LOCATION: JOSHUA TREE, CALIFORNIA - Starhenge Peace Garden instillation - Mother’s House Retreat Center and Sanctuary.

Location DETAILS:

Starhenge 13 is located in the Joshua Tree desert - a place of stark beauty and radiant silence, with a 360-degree view of the horizon and a full sky-dome above. This world peace bell garden is a focused container within this vastness - a place for ceremonial performance art and community healing - to gather, dream, share, and celebrate together.

Inspired by Don Conreaux’s Starhenge Design Science, it is comprised of painted stone circles representing various calendar and divination systems from around the planet. The idea is to harmonize humanity's diverse perspectives into a unified whole - seeking to honor and understand one another through dialogue, and to practice a vision of planetary peace inspired by Robert Muller:

“The first 24-hour day of world peace will come when people around the world will gather together in circles, hold hands and give thanks for life and breath, while listening to all the gongs and bells of peace ring together around our planet earth.”

One way to connect with the purpose and power of Starhenge is through teachings on Native American Medicine Wheels:

“Wherever they are, however they are created, [medicine wheels] will always gather people in unity and community of mind, regardless of their background or religious beliefs. Circles of Earth offer a great way of moving beyond differences and provide an effective path for truly meeting together at the very heart of Earth….The wheel is a place to meet and marry all the disagreements and misunderstandings [harnessing what Dane Rudhyar calls “dissonant harmony”] within the context of the Council wheels.”

“Collectively, wheels share with us one of the most valuable understandings of all - the true meeting of our brothers and sisters in the great hoop of this world. As we all stand around the wheel, we can hear the stories of everyone and enlarge our own perspectives by putting ourselves in others’ moccasins.” (from Dreaming the Council Ways)

In the context of Starhenge, we can tune in and vibrate together, share our resonant perspectives, and creatively embody this movement towards world peace by enacting Gong Mystery plays, sacred tone improvisation, and ceremonial performance art. The simple while profound shape of the garden - the circle within the circle within the circle - empowers participants with the ever-expanding and inclusive awareness of the Gong ~ capable of bridging vast gulfs of time, space, and understanding.

A NOTE FROM THE GUARDIANS OF THE LAND:

In stepping onto this land you will not simply be getting out of your car, but entering into Mother’s Blessing, a space of healing where the opposites can meet, polarization can be contained, the invisible become visible and the unconscious, conscious.

In this long prophesied time of planetary transition, with all the volatility, instability, and crisis that inevitably goes with it, we are traveling through the chaos of being in between one level of implicate order dissolving and another more inclusive one arising. But for those who know we travel not alone, that we incarnated for this, that we are here not just for our own growth but for the benefit of all beings, and finally that Love is the first, last, and only way, there is also unparalleled opportunity to do together our part in this great turning of the Wheel.
