Atlanta Historic Dance is honored to welcome renowned social dance historian Susan Guardiola! Susan is based in Connecticut and travels the globe to teach dance at workshops and balls. We are pleased to offer this fun and unique opportunity to learn period quadrilles with an optional lesson on Regency waltz steps. Are you a ballet enthusiast? There will be plenty of lively footwork to learn. But Regency dance is accessible to everyone -- if you prefer to walk the steps, that is also perfectly acceptable.
This workshop is geared toward intermediate and advanced level dancers and those who pick up steps quickly. Please note that to participate in the optional waltz portion, you must know the basic waltz step. If you prefer, you may watch the waltz portion and still participate in the quadrille lesson. Flat, comfortable shoes are recommended.
Where: Decatur School of Ballet, 141 Sams Street #4133, Decatur, GA 30030
When: Saturday, January 24, 2:00pm-5:30pm with a brief intermission including refreshments

And when you have mastered the Regency quadrilles and added some new waltz flourishes to your dance vocabulary, show off what you've learned at the Regency costume ball the following evening! Susan Guardiola will be the caller for the ball. There will be a few beginning-level dances called, although many of this event's dances will be intermediate and advanced level. Everyone is welcome! Since it is also Burns Night, the evening will include a few Scottish dances and a toast to Robert Burns. Arrive early to take advantage of the beautiful park and buildings for photos!
Period-inspired hors d'oeuvres will be served, as well as punch from a Regency recipe. We encourage you to come dressed in finery from the 18th century or Regency era. Modern formalwear is also acceptable.
Where: A Historical venue in the Metro Atlanta area. Location TBD. Norcross, GA
When: Sunday, January 25, 5:00pm - 8:00pm
