Reg Meuross, Lewes Saturday Folk Club

A compassionate & insightful songwriter, Reg’s quiet resistance & storytelling remind us of our shared humanity. Recently named one of FATEA magazine’s 2025 Artists of the Year, Reg is a rare & vital voice. His career spans five decades & he has made seventeen albums. He is driven by a profound sense of compassion & a compulsion to sing about social injustice, inequality, courage, & heroism – above all, a desire to tell people’s stories. His study of the slave trade, Stolen From God, with Cohen Braithwaite-Kilcoyne, Modou Ndiaye & Tim Walker, was a packed-out highlight of Whitby Folk Week this year.
Reg will give us two forty-five minute spots and the rest of the evening is filled by members of the audience performing a song or tune if they wish.
Everyone is welcome, especially if you'd like to sing or play. We mostly sing and play traditional music from the British Isles, but we enjoy other styles as well. We always start off with some English dance tunes for anyone with an instrument to join in.
