En 1948, Paul-Émile Borduas publie le manifeste Refus global, appelant à la libération sociale par l’art. Rejeté par l’establishment québécois et contraint à l’exil, il trouve toutefois une reconnaissance internationale, notamment à Toronto. Cette conférence interroge le pouvoir subversif de l’art.


In 1948, Paul-Émile Borduas published the Refus Global manifesto, advocating for social liberation through art. Shunned by the Quebec establishment and forced into exile, Borduas eventually found recognition abroad, particularly in Toronto. This conference examines the subversive power of his artistic vision.
